Artist's statement: Photography allows me to direct emotionally charged thoughts that can otherwise de-rail me into something realized. My mind is bi-polar and photography is to me a conduit to the rise and fall of my moods. If I am thinking of too many things in succession or of one thing too exclusively, I know that my camera can keep pace. The act itself of pushing the shutter is a metaphorical release, my escape into visual bliss. There’s a quote by Gary Winograd “I photograph to see what something will look like photographed” that resonates with my own ideology to the images that I’m presently taking, insofar that I’m exploring a wide range of subject matter and remain objective in my pursuit. I’m hoping that by investigating all avenues open to photography I’ll see my own style emerge and the techniques I prefer to use.

Artist's Biography: I’ve been interested in the visual arts since my early 20’s when I developed a passion for drawing and graphic design while working at a printing house. My move to photography came after a brief trip to New York City in 2006. Recently exhibited at the ROM for the Touched By Fire Art Show. I am currently enrolled in an on-line photography course with The Photography Institute of Canada. Not long ago I was hired to photograph food and design a webpage for www.bites-catering.ca (my first time exploring this area of photography – a very rewarding challenge!) I am learning to operate lighting equipment with studio portraits, working on my greens in landscape photography and exploring travel themes.
